Basketball Dribble Course

Basketball Dribble Course

[30 Minutes]

Challenge yourselves to this game of dribbling the basketball. The object of the game is to successfully dribble the basketball while weaving in out between the cones. This game provides experiences for improving your dribbling the basketball skills.

You'll need:

• basketball • 8 cones or soda bottles

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through before you begin.
  2. Explain to your child that the object of the game is to dribble the basketball through the cones without knocking them over. The catch is that she has to use her dominant hand and return to the starting line using her other hand.
  3. After she has completed the course five times, then it will be your turn.
  4. Together, place the cones 3 feet apart in a straight line.
  5. Allow your child to go first.

How to play:

  1. On your mark, she starts to dribble the basketball.
  2. Monitor her performance and when she has finished the course, tell her how many times she lost control of the ball.

Useful information:

This game is a challenge. My mom and I completed the course ten times each. The hardest part was using my left hand. I do feel like I can handle the ball better now. (Rich, age 11)
