Calendar Call Game
[25 Minutes]
Help your child learn to "read" the calendar with this simple game.
You'll need:
calendar page bottle caps, jug lid, or coin tape crayons or markers
What to do:
Help your child to tape a calendar page to the floor.
How to play:
- Invite your child to stand several feet from the calendar page and toss the bottle caps onto the page.
- Challenge him to name the month, the day on which the marker lands, and the year, if he can.
- Then invite him to color in the square on the calendar. He will create a colorful design as he learns to "read" the calendar.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What month, day, and year is it? Let's look at a calendar (or a newspaper).
- In what month is your birthday?
- Is anything special happening this month? Let’s talk about special days we share together.
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop pre-math skills and an understanding of time.
