All About My Day Book
[30 Minutes]
As a busy parent you may wonder about your child's day as much as your child wonders about yours. By making this timely book together you can compare and share each other's day.
You'll need:
copy paper
stapler
markers and/or crayons
pencil
What to do:
- Fold 2 pieces of copy paper in half and cut on the fold line to create 4 pieces of paper, each measuring 8-1/2 inches x 5-1/2 inches.
- Staple the pages together along the left edge to create a booklet. Repeat these steps so that you have 2 booklets.
- Help your child draw a clock at the top of each page in both booklets.
- Encourage your child to name key times in his day. (For example: breakfast, morning activities, lunch, after school activity)
- Label the clocks to match the key times.
- Encourage your child to draw a picture of each activity at the key times.
- When the booklets are finished, invite your child to "read" his booklet. Then read yours.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What things do we do at the same time?
- What do we each do in the morning? In the afternoon? At night?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity provides experiences for developing concepts related to reading, writing, and creative thinking skills.
