Empty Box Sculpture
[45 Minutes]
You, your child and a little creativity can create a unique construction project using empty boxes. This activity can also be used as an art project for school.
You'll need:
all sizes of gift boxes
white tacky glue or masking tape
paint, crayons, markers (optional)
What to do:
- Invite your child to build her own sculpture by gluing or taping gift boxes together.
- Encourage her to decorate the sculpture with paint, crayons, or markers.
How to use:
- Challenge her to identify the shape and size of various boxes by using words like: big, little, tiny, large, small, tall, short, wide, long, square and rectangle.
- If your child is older, she can create an art sculpture for an art project at school.
- Encourage her to use a variety of boxes to add to the creativity of her piece of art.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What did you make with all the boxes?
- What other box sculptures could you create?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop imagination and an understanding of "same and different."
