Where Oh Where Can It Be?

Where Oh Where Can It Be?

[15 Minutes]

Misplacing a favorite toy or stuffed animal, especially at bedtime, can develop into a trying moment. Use this song to ease your child's fears during this time.

What to do:

  1. When your child can’t find a special toy at bedtime, encourage him to sing this song as you are looking for the missing toy. (Tune: "Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?")
Where, oh where, has my teddy bear gone?
Oh where, oh where, can it be?
With its soft round tummy and little black nose,
Oh where, oh where can it be?"
  2. Invite your child to change the description of the toy as you sing together. Maybe he is looking for a teddy bear, stuffed cat or dog, and so on. Help him change the middle line description.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How do you feel when you can't find your teddy?
  • If we can't find this toy, what other toy would make you feel better?
  • Let’s put this toy some place special so that it doesn't get lost again.

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing language and problem-solving skills.
