Chocolate Pudding Spelling

[10 Minutes]

This is a fun and delicious way to help your child practice spelling words. Playing this game helps improve vocabulary.


You'll need:

• chocolate pudding (or any other favorite flavor) • paper plate

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through together before you begin.
  2. Together, gather everything you'll need.

How to play:

  1. Spread a thin layer of pudding on a paper plate.
  2. Dictate one of your child’s spelling words.
  3. Your child must take his finger and write the word in the pudding.
  4. If the word is spelled correctly, your child may lick his finger. If not, smooth the pudding and try again.
  5. After each word has been correctly spelled, have your child smooth out the pudding. (Add more pudding as needed.
  6. Continue until all of the words have been dictated.
  7. Together, enjoy a snack of chocolate pudding.

Useful information:

I need practice with my spelling words. Chocolate pudding spelling was a fun way to practice. I think this helped me learn the words faster. I certainly enjoyed eating the pudding after spelling. (Justin, age 10)
