A Little Clown Song

A Little Clown Song

[15 Minutes]

Add a little twist to an old favorite song and do some "clowning around" together!

You'll need:

• markers

What to do:

  1. Draw a "smiley face" on each of your child's fingers on one hand.
  2. Invite your child to hold up one finger at a time as you sing and dramatize this song together. (Tune: "One Elephant Went Out To Play"):

One little clown went out to play
Under the Big Top, not far away.
He was having so much fun
So he called for another silly clown to come.
Two little clowns went out to play
Under the Big Top, not far away.
They were having so much fun
So they called for another silly clown to come.
  3. Continue singing and holding up fingers till the count of 5.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How many fingers do you have on one hand? Let's count them.
  • How many clowns went out to play? What type of games do you think they played?
  • Did they make silly faces? Can you show me a silly face?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop language and counting skills and small muscle skills.
