St. Patrick's Day Punch with Gold Pieces
[20 Minutes]
During the 19th century, the color green was recognized as one of the symbols of Ireland and the national color of the Emerald Isle. ”Wearin’ of the green” has become a St. Patrick’s Day tradition and is supposed to bring good luck. To celebrate the holiday, wear some green and enjoy this refreshing green punch.
You'll need:
1/2 gallon lime sherbet 2 quarts 7-up, Sprite, or seltzer orange juice empty ice cube trays hand mixer or egg beater
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through together before you begin.
- Together, gather everything you'll need and always remember cooking safety.
- Let your child pour orange juice into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. (To get coin shape, freeze in paper cup and peel away cup before adding to punch.)
- Let the sherbet soften in the refrigerator for about 1 to 2 hours before preparing.
- Invite your child to mix sherbet and soda in a punch bowl or large mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended or your child can use an egg beater.
- Let him add ice cubes made of orange juice-these are the pieces of gold!
