Go on a Leprechaun Hunt

No equipment is needed for this story game. Just turn on your imaginations and set off on an adventure.

What to do:

1. Invite your child to go on a leprechaun hunt that is an adaptation of the childhood favorite, "Going on a Bear Hunt."

   Going on a leprechaun hunt. I'm not afraid.
   Let's go! Oh, look!
   I see a grassy field. Can’t go around it. Can't go under it. Can't go over it.
   Let's go through it.
   Let's go! Swish, swish, swish, swish!

2. Continue with other verses:

   I see a giant tree.... climb, climb, climb.
   I see a river.........swim, swim, swim.
   I see a dark cave...tippy, tippy, toe.
   It's really dark in here. Better turn on my flashlight.
   Oh, no. I see something! It's mean! It's green! It's a leprechaun! Let's go!

3. Show your child how to do hand motions for the movements throughout this verse as she chants.
4. Vary the number of details in the story depending on your child's interest and age.
5. Use hand motions to retrace her steps through the story at the end (tiptoe, swim, climb, swish), ending with "Whew...safe at home again."

How to use:

1. Use this story in the car to help pass the time.
2. Encourage your child to add more places and actions to the adventure.
