Magic Easter Egg Picture
[20 Minutes]
Amaze your child with this holiday art project! Magical Easter eggs will appear as you paint!
You'll need:
chunks of paraffin wax or white crayon white paper scissors (ADULT USE ONLY) tape cotton swab paintbrush brown paper purple food coloring--diluted with water
What to do:
- Invite your child to draw egg shapes on white paper with paraffin wax chunks or white crayon. (Shapes will be almost invisible.)
- Using a cotton swab or paintbrush, encourage her to wash diluted purple food coloring over the entire paper. Let it dry thoroughly.
- Frame the picture by cutting out a basket shape in the middle of the brown paper.
- Finally, tape the egg painting to the back of the brown paper so that the eggs appear to be sitting in the basket.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What appears on the white paper when you paint it with food colors?
- Can you think of another magic picture to make? What shapes would you draw?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop small muscle skills and an understanding of cause and effect.
