A Song For March

A Song For March

[15 Minutes]

March is associated with windy weather. As you sing and dramatize this song together, your child is learning what wind can do.

What to do:

  1. Together sing this song to the tune of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" Invite your child to dramatize using his mouth with blowing motions as you sing this song a second time.
The March wind came out today,
He blew the winter out of his way,
He blew the leaves and made them fly,
    Spinning weathervanes way up high,
He blew the boats sailing on the sea,
And then he blew my kite from me!
  2. Together, think of other things the wind can blow.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Let's pretend to be the wind. Can you blow air with your mouth?
  • Would you like to take a walk outside and look for things blowing in the wind?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing language skills and an understanding of cause and effect.
