The Wind Song

The Wind Song

[10 Minutes]

Sit with your child at a window and watch the leaves and branches on trees move as the wind blows. As you observe, sing this song...you'll know the tune!

What to do:

  1. Sit with your child on your lap.
  2. Sing the following song for your child, swaying back and forth as you sing. (Tune: "Are You Sleeping?"/"Frere Jacques"):
Wind is blowing, wind is blowing,
Through the trees, through the trees.
Hold your hat on tight, let's go fly a kite.
Feel the breeze, feel the breeze.
  3. Hold your child's hands and sway your arms while repeating song.
  4. Stand up and sing one more time, inviting your child to sing with you. Sway together as you hug.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Let's see if we can be like the wind. I'll blow gently on your hand. Can you do this to me?
  • Do you like feeling the wind on your face?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing language skills and concepts related to science.
