Do the Water Walk

Do the Water Walk

[30 Minutes]

Need to cool off? Put on your swimsuits and play in the sprinklers together!

You'll need:

• sprinkler • swimsuits • pool shoes or old sneakers (optional)

What to do:

  1. On a hot summer day, set up a water sprinkler on a level, grassy area where your child can run through it safely.
  2. Your child may want to protect his feet by wearing pool shoes or old sneakers.
  3. Invite your child to walk through the sprinkler using a variety of body parts. Why not join your child in this game. Start with your hands on your head and then try:
    Hands on your shoulders
    waist
    knees
    ears
    elbows
    mouth
    back
    chin
    thighs
    nose
    neck
    chest
  4. When you have accomplished these movements, give yourself a big hug as you walk through the water this time.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Can you name all your body parts from head to toe?
  • Did you find this water game fun? Why?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop large muscle skills, listening skills and body awareness.
