Water Follow the Leader

Water Follow the Leader

[30 Minutes]

Need a game to play at the beach or in a swimming pool? This game of Follow the Leader is fun and challenging. The object of the game is to follow and imitate the leader performing stunts in the water. Playing this game will help improve swimming skills.

What to do:

If possible, print out these directions. Read them through together before you begin.

How to play:

  1. Challenge your child to perform stunts in the water by following your lead.
If you are at the beach, you can use a beach ball in the water. Lie across the ball; try to prevent it from popping out from under you.
Float on your back while you count to fifty.
Body surf into the shore; hold your breath underwater.
Try to find a shell under the water.
The possibilities are endless. (You can perform similar moves in a swimming pool.)
  2. After your child follows your lead, let her be the leader.

Useful information:

I can't wait to go swimming in the summer. My dad and go to the river, find a deep spot, and play Follow the Leader. Sometimes the river is cold and this game warms us up. (Kaile, age 10)
