A Gift Mug for Father's Day

Father’s Day may have originated in the early 1900’s, but it wasn’t until 1924 that President Calvin Coolidge declared Father’s Day a national holiday. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation naming the third Sunday in June Father’s Day; a day to recognize and honor all dads. Honor the special person in your life by making this Father’s Day gift mug.
You'll need:
oven-safe soup mug ceramic paints in a variety of colors (Read warning on packaging.) fine line paintbrush wide, flat paintbrush
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through together before you begin.
- Together, gather everything you'll need and always remember art safety.
- The ceramic paints dry very quickly, so you and your child may wish to write down what will be written on the mug before it is painted.
- Let your child to place small amounts of the paint on the paper plate.
- Paint the phrases you and she have chosen in random directions.
- You can use such phrases as:
"You're the best!" "You're #1 Dad!" "I Love You!" "Happy Father's Day!"
- Allow to dry.
How to use:
- This mug filled with goodies would be a welcome gift for Father's Day or any special occasion.
- You can fill the mug with such items as a can of soup and crackers.
- You can also fill the mug with packages of tea and coffee or hot chocolate.
