Bicycle Parade

Bicycle Parade

[30 Minutes]

Hurray for the colors of summer. Help your child decorate bicycles for a summer parade!

You'll need:

• bicycle or tricycle • paper streamers • summer colors: yellow, green and blue

What to do:

  1. Talk about parades with your child. If possible, show him pictures of some parades.
  2. Invite your child to decorate his bicycle with crepe paper streamers.
  3. Weave them in and out of the wheels and tie streamers to the handlebars. If your child does not have a bicycle or doesn't ride one, substitute a wagon or favorite push toy.
  4. Plan a special neighborhood parade so that your child and friends can show off their decorated toys.
  5. Sing a special summer song during your parade. (Tune: "Happy Birthday"):
    Yellow, green, and blue,
    Summer we love you.
    Red, orange, and purple
    Summer we love you.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What are your favorite colors?
  • Are parades fun? What is the best part of the parade?
