Summer Song
[15 Minutes]
The summer wind flutters through the tree leaves and branches. Use body movements to dramatize this summer song.
What to do:
- Sing this summer song to your child.
- (Tune: "Wheels on the Bus"):
The leaves on the trees, They dance and wave, Dance and wave, dance and wave. The leaves on the trees, They dance and wave, As you walk along.
- Repeat the song and encourage your child to pretend to be a leaf on a tree and do motions suggested in song (dance, wave).
- Sing again and invite your child to join in.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- If there are no leaves on the tree, how could you tell that the wind was blowing?
- What other words could you sing to this tune? How about, "The waves in the pool, they ripple and splash.."
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop large muscle skills, listening skills, and language skills.
