The Colors in the Sky

The Colors in the Sky

[20 Minutes]

On a nice, clear day, go for a walk with your child and enjoy the beautiful colors in the sky!

You'll need:

• blanket • pad of plain paper • crayons

What to do:

  1. Go for a walk and find an area to lay out a blanket. Lie down on your backs and look up at the sky.
  2. Invite your child to tell you what colors he sees in the sky.
  3. Encourage him to describe the clouds. Are they white or gray?
  4. Ask him to tell you the color of the sky. Is it light blue or dark blue?
  5. Give your child a pad of paper and crayons and encourage him to draw a picture of the sky.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What colors are in the sky today?
  • Show me some other things that are blue.
  • Let's find things that are white.
  • What color is the sun?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop observational skills, language skills and color recognition skills.
