Easy Biscuit Shapes
[20 Minutes]
When you begin with prepared biscuits, this activity is easy. Play around and make some shapes that the family will have fun eating for dinner.
You'll need:
1 tube of refrigerated biscuits baking tray plastic knife flour
What to do:
- Let your child help you open the package and take out the biscuits, separating them and laying them on the counter.
- Talk about the circle shape and then show your child how to cut one biscuit in half with a plastic knife to make two half circles.
- Work together to make another circle into a square by pushing and pulling the dough.
- Try making other shapes such as a triangle, rectangle, and oval by using fingers or the plastic knife. (Use flour if the dough gets too sticky.)
- Place the biscuit shapes on a baking tray and bake as directed on the package, shortening the time as needed because of the size of the shapes.
- Enjoy the biscuits with a family meal.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Which shapes can you make with your fingers? Your whole arm? Your body?
- Let's look at our dinner table. What shapes do you see there?
