Make Sports Party Napkin Rings

Make Sports Party Napkin Rings

[30 Minutes]

Linen, which is made from flax, was first used by the early Egyptians. The Egyptians also produced textiles made from cotton imported from India. It is thought that the word linens, which describes household items such as cotton sheets, napkins, and towels is most likely derived from the Egyptian word linum. Make these party napkin rings for cloth or paper napkins.

You'll need:

• colored paper napkins (team colors, if possible) • small wooden beads (team colors) • ruler • scissors • pipe cleaners

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through before you begin.
  2. Gather everything you'll need.
  3. Cut the pipe cleaners into 10 inch lengths.
  4. Twist the ends of the together, leaving a 1 1/2 at each end.
  5. Thread the colored beads onto the ends of the pipe cleaners. Bend the ends to stop the beads from slipping off.
  6. Roll up the napkin and slide into the napkin ring.
  7. Use with party time silverware.

Useful information:

Our family likes to follow football games during the season. Sometimes my mom and I cheer for the same team, sometimes we choose opposite teams. This year we chose the same team, and we hosted a party to celebrate their victory. Making these sports party napkin rings in our team's colors added something special to the decorations.
