Snowflakes, Snowflakes
[30 Minutes]
Snowflakes are so lacy and beautiful. Invite your child to make a snowflake replica with this simple art activity!
You'll need:
paper or plastic doily blue construction paper tape sponges white paint paint container
What to do:
- Help your child to place a paper doily or a plastic doily (YARD SALES FIND: plastic covers for dresser tops) over a sheet of blue paper and tape in place.
- Invite her to use sponges dipped in white paint to print all over the paper. When the doily is removed, lovely snowflake shapes will appear.
- Variation--place a sheet of thin paper over a doily. Encourage your child to make rubbings with crayons on the paper. Together watch the lacy snowflake appear.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What do you think will happen when we paint on top of the doily?
- How does the paper look when we take off the doily?
- Where should we put our snowflake pictures?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, your child is developing small muscle skills and creativity.
