Exercise Dice Game
[25 Minutes]
You and your child can get some exercise with just a throw of the dice.
You'll need:
2 cube-shaped tissue boxes
glue or tape
plain brown wrapping paper (or a grocery sack)
markers or crayons
What to do:
- Let your child help you cover the six sides of both tissue boxes with the paper using glue or tape.
- Help him draw a person doing a different exercise on each side of one cube: for example, hopping, doing jumping jacks, touching toes. (Stick figures work well.)
- Help him use the sides of the other tissue box to record the numbers 2-7.
- Take turns rolling the tissue boxes to see how many times you both should do the particular exercise.
- Consider adding music to your exercise routine.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Put your hand on your heart, can you feel it beating?
- Why do you think it is beating so fast?
- How many different exercises do you know?
- Would you like to make a different exercise cube?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity provides experiences for developing agility, balance, and lateral and backward movement used to play soccer, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, and volleyball.
