Peanut Butter Pile-Ups

Peanut Butter Pile-Ups

[15 Minutes]

Creativity reigns as your child invents new peanut butter recipes for the family to try.

You'll need:

• peanut butter • toasted bread slices or graham crackers • honey, applesauce, orange marmalade, maple syrup, mashed banana, crushed pineapple • bacon bits, raisins, shredded coconut, fresh berries, sunflower seeds • paper cups and plastic spoon

What to do:

  1. Invite your child to scoop a spoonful of peanut butter into a paper cup.
  2. Encourage him to add one of the mix-in ingredients and stir it well.
  3. Let him spoon the mixture onto bread or crackers.
  4. Let him choose sprinkle-on ingredients to put on the top.
  5. Suggest that he cut or break his creation into several pieces so that everyone can have a taste.

How to use:

  1. Create more than one peanut butter pile-up, if family members want to try them.
  2. Make a menu of pile-up favorites to select from.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What would be a good name for your new peanut butter recipe?
  • If you were going to have a Peanut Butter Restaurant, what would you serve?
