Painting with Blocks
[20 Minutes]
Give your child a chance to develop self-expression while making prints with blocks!
You'll need:
blocks (wood or plastic)
tempera paint
shallow container
paper
What to do:
- Put a small amount of paint into a shallow container.
- Place a sheet of paper in front of your child. Invite him to dip a block into the paint and press it onto the paper.
- Encourage your child to make prints randomly on the page. If the block has a raised letter, number or picture on it, the design will transfer to the paper via the paint print.
- Talk about what you see in the print and about the colors you used. Name the colors together.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- How did you make this design on the paper?
- Do you like to make things with paint? Why?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop language skills and an understanding of cause and effect.
