Foot Babies
[15 Minutes]
Plan some quiet time for you and your child. Imagine singing a lullaby to your feet; it's a great "goodnight" activity.
What to do:
- Sing a lullaby with your child and show her how to cradle one foot and call it her "foot baby."
- Invite her to pat it, sing to it, and hum it to sleep.
- Show her how to gently massage her feet.
- Challenge her to lay her "foot baby" down very carefully and then to rock the other foot to sleep.
- Remind her to talk softly so that her "foot babies" will not awaken.
- Encourage her to repeat the activity using your feet.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Let's sing songs to another part of our body. How about your pinkie? Your thumb?
- What other part of your body needs to go to sleep?
- Does quiet music make you sleepy?
Useful information:
While having fun together, this activity helps your child develop large muscle skills and language skills.
