A My Name Is Alice...

A My Name Is Alice...

[20 Minutes]

Remember the game A My name is Alice? Playing this game with your child helps build language skills and challenges thinking skills.

You'll need:

• paper and pencil (optional)

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child.
  2. Explain to your child how to play the game.
  3. Begin with the first letter of the alphabet.
  4. The first person begins like this:
A my name is Alice. My husband’s name is Aaron. We live in Alabama and we eat apples.
  5. The second player then begins:
B my name is Barney. My wifes' name is Becca. We live in Bermuda and we eat bananas.
  6. Together, play this game as you go though each letter of the alphabet.
  7. You and your child may wish to write this down as you play.
  8. The next time you play, try and think of different names and places for each letter of the alphabet.
  9. Try to think of as many variations as possible.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What do you like about playing this game?
  • Were there some letters that were harder to play with? Which ones?
  • What other ways can we play this game?
