Tissue Paper Collage

Tissue Paper Collage

[20 Minutes]

Together with your child create a beautiful mosaic from tissue paper.

You'll need:

• tissue paper • water • glue • small paper cup • paintbrush • paper • scissors

What to do:

  1. Help your child cut or tear tissue paper into small pieces.
  2. Mix a solution of half water and half glue.
  3. Invite your child to place a piece of tissue on a sheet of paper and to paint over it with the glue solution, covering it completely. Show her how to paint lightly on the pieces so that they don't get too wet.
  4. Encourage your child to add more pieces, overlapping their edges and to "paint" each piece into place.
  5. The finished product will be a beautiful mosaic.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How did you decide where to put each color?
  • What is your favorite color in this picture?
  • If you could have a house any color you wanted, what color would it be? Try drawing a picture of it.

Useful information:

While you are having fun together this activity helps your child develop eye/hand coordination and small muscle skills.
