Delightful Watermelon Dessert

Delightful Watermelon Dessert

[15 Minutes]

The watermelon is native to Africa. The most popular variety found in America averages 15 to 35 pounds. All parts of the watermelon can be used. Pickled rinds and toasted seeds are favorites in many parts of the world. Choose a watermelon that is symmetrical and without flat spots. Watermelon is a good source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Create a watermelon delight dessert together using your child's favorite juices! It is a welcome thirst quencher on a hot summer day.

You'll need:

• orange, cranberry, pineapple, or other favorite juices • watermelon balls • plastic or glass see-through dishes or bowls • melon ballers (fruit scoops)

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child.
  2. With your child, gather everything you'll need.
  3. Make this with juices you have on hand; orange, cranberry, pineapple, or another one of your child's favorite juices. Let her make the selections.
  4. Help your child scoop out the melon balls.
  5. Place in a plastic container.
  6. Help her pour the juices over watermelon balls.
  7. Together, eat this sweet treat. This dessert has juice to drink and fruit to "crunch".
