A Secret Path

A Secret Path

[30 Minutes]

Take a journey together down a secret path. Playing this game helps develop imagination, creativity, and writing skills.

You'll need:

• paper • pencil, pen, markers or crayons

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
  2. With your child, gather everything you'll need.
  3. Put a long sheet of paper on a table or on the floor.
  4. Encourage your child to imagine a secret path.
  5. Invite her to draw a path and to draw the sights along the way.
  6. Help your child by asking these questions:
What would the path look like?
Who might she meet along the path?
What would she see, hear, feel, smell, and touch along the path?
Most important, what would she discover at the end of the path?
  7. Help her write down her words. Re-read them together as you journey down the path.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
