Me Timeline

Me Timeline

[30 Minutes]

Use family photos to create a timeline of your child's life. Not only will those photos be put in order, but you will also share precious family stories.

You'll need:

• tape • markers, pens, or pencils • 1 photo representing each year of your child's life • a long piece of paper (fax roll, computer paper)

What to do:

  1. Look at family photos together and choose 1 photo from each year of your child's life.
  2. Tape the pictures to the paper in chronological order, leaving lots of room next to each one.
  3. Talk about the pictures together.
  4. Let your child write a description of each picture next to it. She can also dictate her comments to you.
  5. Display the Timeline in your child's room.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What can you tell me about each of these pictures?
  • Tell me some ways you have changed since you were little.
  • Which is your favorite picture? Why?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills and an understanding of time sequence.
