Eat a Snowman Shaped Sandwich

Eat a Snowman Shaped Sandwich

[15 Minutes]

Make a snowman outside; come inside and prepare snowman sandwiches!

You'll need:

• egg salad, tuna salad, peanut butter and jelly, or luncheon meats • white bread • round cookie cutters • lettuce • slices of cheese • carrot or celery sticks • olives or raisins

What to do:

  1. Give your child 2 pieces of bread and a cookie cutter. Help her cut 2 circles out of each piece of bread.
  2. Invite her to spread a filling on the 2 circles and cover them with the other circles.
  3. Encourage her to create a snowman sandwich on a plate using the two circle sandwiches as the outline and adding details with other vegetables.
  4. Take a picture of the sandwich before she eats it.
  5. Keep any leftover bread scraps in a bag in the refrigerator to feed the birds on your next winter walk.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What else could you make with your two circle sandwiches? (Let's try it again tomorrow for lunch!)
  • How did your snowman sandwich taste?
  • Did it taste different than a regular sandwich?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop math skills and creativity.
