You'll need:
small toy vehicles
What to do:
- While your child is playing with cars, begin to line up the cars and start singing the "Counting Cars Song." (Tune: "Ten Little Indians"):
One little, two little, three little cars, Four little, five little, six little cars, Seven little, eight little, nine little cars, Ten little cars in a row.
- Encourage your child to line up the cars, counting them as he does so. Then sing the song again.
- Challenge him to point to each car as he says the number.
- Ask your child to think of other vehicles that he could line up. Help him sing another song about those vehicles.
- Next time you are out on the road, invite your child to choose a kind of vehicle or a car of a particular color and count how many you see.
