Bread Dough Animal Buddies

Bread Dough Animal Buddies

[20 Minutes]

Enjoy the smell of baking bread? Use frozen bread dough to create some friendly animal buddies with your child.

You'll need:

• 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed • flour • baking tray • non-stick spray or shortening

What to do:

  1. Early in the day or while you are at work, thaw the bread dough according to package directions.
  2. Invite your child to sprinkle a little flour on a work surface.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 pieces.
  4. Show him how to roll, stretch, and pinch the dough to resemble animal shapes. Help him make a head, arms, and legs. He may also want to create his own type of shape.
  5. Place the shapes on a greased baking tray.
  6. Bake in 375 degrees F. for 8-12 minutes, depending on size of shapes.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What animals did we make? Let's name them.
  • Which part of the animal will you eat first?
  • Show me your favorite shape.
