Outdoor Water Painting
[20 Minutes]
Bring dramatic play outside, as you and your child experience the art of house-painting with magical paint--called water!
You'll need:
a paintbrush or roller a small bucket or paint pan water
What to do:
- Help your child to fill the bucket with water.
- Invite her to help you paint the fence, trees or driveway with water.
How to use:
- Demonstrate how to use each of the utensils to paint hard surfaces.
- As she is busy at work, talk about her actions. Phrases like, "that's a big brush you are using, I like watching you move it up and down, you are just like a real house painter."
- As she is painting, recite this chant together:
Painting up, painting down, Painting all around!
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- What happens to the painted surface when the sun shines on it?
- Would you like to be a house painter when you grow up? Why?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, your child is developing small and large muscle skills and concepts related to science.
