The Fruit Tune

The Fruit Tune

[15 Minutes]

Is it time for a break? Surprise your child with this fruity song.

What to do:

  1. Teach your child this song to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot".
  2. I'm a little _____ (orange),
    Small and round.
On the tree top I am found.
Gravity will pull me to the ground,
And then the farmer will sell me in town.
  3. Talk together about other fruits that grow on trees.
  4. Look for some of these fruits in your kitchen. Check dried or canned fruits, jellies, and jams, too.
  5. Let your child choose other fruit names to substitute for "orange." Sing the song again using these names.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How many fruits do you know that grow on trees?
  • What is your favorite tree fruit? Where else does fruit grow?

Useful information:

While you are singing together, this activity helps your child develop thinking and language skills.
