Find the Rainbow Colors Song
[20 Minutes]
There's a chance you may see a rainbow after a rain shower. Make your child curious about rainbow colors with a song!
What to do:
- Take your child to a place where you can observe colors together (around your house, a specific room, the yard, or a park).
- Sing this open-ended song and encourage your child to observe his colorful surroundings. (Tune: "Are You Sleeping/Frere Jacques"):
Rainbow colors, rainbow colors In our house, in our house. Red, orange, and yellow Green, blue, and violet. Look around, look around.
- Change the location in the second line to match your surroundings. Examples like "in our yard," "at the park," "in Grandma's house," and so on.
- Take turns naming the colors that you see.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Name a color we saw outside. Let's find the same color in the house.
- Which is your favorite rainbow color? Can you show me in this box of crayons?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, your child is developing observational skills and an understanding of colors.
