Signs of Spring Song

Signs of Spring Song

[20 Minutes]

Take a break and look outside for signs of spring with your child. When you get back, sing this song about the spring together.

What to do:

  1. Go for a walk with your child and look for signs of spring.
  2. Then teach your child the following song.(Tune: "The Twelve Days of Christmas"):
On the first day of springtime, my good friend gave to me, a bluebird in a big tree.
On the second day of springtime, my good friend gave to me, two green frogs and a bluebird in a big tree.
On the third day of springtime, my good friend gave to me, three yellow buds, two green frogs, and a bluebird in a big tree.
On the fourth day of springtime, my good friend gave to me, four raindrops, three yellow buds, two green frogs and a bluebird in a big tree.
  3. Ask your child to use his body to be a frog, a raindrop, and so on, as you sing the song.
  4. As your child finds new things appearing in the spring, add new verses.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What were some of the things you sang about in the song?
  • Since you are my good friend, what spring thing would you give me?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing observational skills and language skills.
