Egg Carton Count Game
[20 Minutes]
Playing this simple egg carton game teaches your child about numbers as well as turn-taking. It's quick and easy to grab if you want to play a five-minute game before bedtime.
You'll need:
egg cartons, one for each player
dried beans, or other small items like plastic beads
die
What to do:
- Ask your child to distribute one egg carton to each player.
- Place a pile of dried beans by each player.
- The first player rolls the die and counts how many dots there are. Then he places that many beans in his egg carton, one in each section.
- The next player rolls the die and proceeds to play in the same way.
- The winner will be the person who fills his egg carton first.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- As you play, ask how many sections are filled? How many more do you need?
- Do you have a favorite number? What is it?
