My Body Rhyme

Charm your child with a personal body rhyme. Together you can exercise your imaginations and your body and learn about rhyming words too.
What to do:
- Teach your child the following rhyme:
Here's my face and this is my nose! I can touch my hair, It grows and grows. I have a mouth to eat and eat, And way down there... I have two feet! Look at my arms stretching way up high, It's time to go... So I'll wave Good-bye! Wiggle your fingers Wiggle your nose. Wave both hands. Now touch your toes. Count: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 That was fun! Let's do it again.
- Together, act out the motions of this rhyme. Encourage your child to point to his body parts and show you how they work.
- Challenge your child to listen for words that rhyme. Say the rhyming words and have him repeat them.
- Now make up new verses that rhyme to include other body parts. For example: I have two eyes that blink, blink, blink; and I use my head to think, think, think.
