Spider Search

Spider Search

[15 Minutes]

Fascinate your child with spiders and how they move.

You'll need:

• spider picture • egg carton section • pipe cleaners • marker

What to do:

  1. Show your child a picture of a spider.
  2. Sing the "Eensy Weensy Spider" and show your child the hand movements.
  3. Invite her to go outside to look for a spider with you. Can you find a web? Supervise your child and do not let her touch the insects.
  4. Talk about spiders. You can easily make a spider for your child to play with using an egg carton section, pipe cleaners, and adding a face with a marker.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Let's go find some spiders.
  • Let's see what they look like.
  • Let's see how they move. Can you move like a spider? Show me.
  • Do you like bugs?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop observational and language skills.
