Apple Color Walk

Apple Color Walk

[20 Minutes]

Let the colors of an apple be your guide as you take a walk with your child.

You'll need:

• one apple each

What to do:

  1. Offer your child an apple to carry with him as you walk together. (Be certain to bring an apple along yourself.)
  2. Tell him the name of the apple variety. Talk about how the apple looks and feels. Pay particular attention to the apple's color.
  3. As you walk along, invite your child to point out things he notices that match his apple’s skin color.
  4. As he munches his apple, challenge him to find other things that match the color of the inside of his apple.
  5. On another day, take a different colored apple on your walk.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Is there anything in your room that is the same color as the apple?
  • What color do you like best?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop language skills and matching skills.
