Pumpkin Cookies

Pumpkin Cookies

[20 Minutes]

Help your child make pumpkin cookies to celebrate the fall season.

You'll need:

• store bought sugar cookies • vanilla frosting or cream cheese • food coloring • raisins • plastic knife • bowls • spoon

What to do:

  1. Together with your child look at a pumpkin or pictures of a pumpkin. Tell him you will be making pumpkin cookies.
  2. Place the white frosting into a bowl.
  3. Help your child add drops of red and yellow food coloring to the bowl.
  4. Using a spoon help him combine the red and yellow food coloring to make orange. Watch the colors as they mix and talk about the changes.
  5. Help your child spread the orange frosting on the cookies. Let him add raisins for the pumpkin's eyes, nose, and mouth.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Let's make pumpkin cookies.
  • Can you help me add yellow food coloring to the red food coloring?
  • Can you show me how you spread the frosting?
