Animal Moves

Animal Moves

[10 Minutes]

Animals are important in children's lives. Try this fun movement activity with your child and pretend to be animals.

What to do:

  1. Invite your child to get down on all fours. Make sure there is plenty of room for him to kick his feet.
  2. Pretend to be donkeys and kick back one foot at a time. Bray like a donkey.
  3. Next pretend to be worms wiggling on the ground.
  4. Show each other how a snake slides on the floor.
  5. Stand and spread your arms to fly like a bird.
  6. Now hop on both feet like a kangaroo, hopping across the outback.
  7. Next strut like a rooster: "Cock-a-doodle-do".

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Which animal was your favorite? Can you show me how that animal moves?
  • How do animals talk? Can you make their sounds with me?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop large muscle skills and balance.
