Berry Basket Printing

Berry Basket Printing

[15 Minutes]

Plastic berry baskets are easy to find during the summer months. Try a new approach to painting by making basket prints on paper.

You'll need:

• plastic berry baskets • tempera (poster) paints • white paper • shallow container or paper plate

What to do:

  1. Pour a small amount of paint into a shallow container or paper plate.
  2. Invite your child to dip the bottom of a plastic berry basket into the paint. Have him press it on paper to make designs.
  3. Provide several baskets as well as a variety of paint colors. Encourage your child to make prints in several bright colors.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Look at the square basket. Do you see square prints on your painting?
  • These are pretty colors. Which one is your favorite?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing small muscle skills, and an introduction to colors and shapes.
