Bread Dough Letters

Bread Dough Letters

[30 Minutes]

Create the letters of your child's name in bread dough and enjoy an edible snack together!

You'll need:

• frozen bread dough (thawed) • baking sheet

What to do:

  1. Introduce your child to the bread dough. Encourage her to explore it with her senses (touch, smell, see).
  2. Show her how to roll snakes with the dough. Spell her name in dough letters. Assist her to attempt to copy a letter.
  3. At this age, the exploration of the dough is more important than the actual letters.
  4. When all the dough has been used and arranged on the baking sheet, bake the letters as directed on the package.
  5. When the bread letters have cooled, serve them as a snack and enjoy them together.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What letter does your name begin with? Make the letter sound with me.
  • What could you add to the bread to make it taste yummy? (cinnamon, jelly, peanut butter, etc.)

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing small muscle skills and an understanding of "same and different".
