Tennis Dribble 1, 2, 3

Tennis Dribble 1, 2, 3

[15 Minutes]

See how fast you can dribble the tennis ball and stay in control of it! The object of the game is to see how long it will take you to dribble the ball from the start to finish line with your tennis racquet down. This tennis game will increase hand-eye coordination and dribbling the tennis ball skills.

You'll need:

• tennis racquet • tennis ball

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
  2. Your child is player 1 and you are player 2.
  3. Together choose a start and finish line.

How to play:

  1. Your child starts at the start line and counts “one, two, three, etc." every time the ball is dribbled.
  2. When he reaches the finish line, he turns around and returns to the start line as he continues counting.
  3. If he loses control of the ball, he has to pick up the ball, return to his place, and then continue the game.
  4. Then it is your turn.
  5. The player with the least number of dribbles wins!
  6. Challenge yourselves by making the dribbling distance longer and walking faster.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How many dribbles do you think it will take to get to the finish line?
  • What helps you to dribble the tennis ball?
  • Why do you think it is important to look at the tennis ball as you dribble it?
