Water Volleyball

Water Volleyball

[25 Minutes]

You can play this game in any swimming area where you can define a volleyball court. The object of the game is to win points by keeping a ball in play and by hitting it back to the other player so that he is unable to return the shot successfully. This game will help improve setting, serving, and passing skills.

You'll need:

• beach ball or volleyball • volleyball net or rope

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through before you begin.
  2. Gather everything you’ll need.

How to play:

  1. Create a court and have each player take his place on opposite sides of the net. (If you do not have a net, a rope will do).
  2. Player 1 serves the ball and player 2 tries to keep it in play before it hits the water.
  3. Each player is allowed three hits to get it over the net and back to the other player.
  4. There are no limits on how the ball may be hit (underhand, overhand, fingertips, fists are all OK).
  5. Follow the same rules as in regular volleyball for serving rotations.
  6. The player who earns the first 12 points wins the game.

Useful information:

I look forward to the summer and water sports all winter long. Water volleyball is a blast! (Erica, age 14)
