Fruit Ice Cream

Fruit Ice Cream

[40 Minutes]

Tahini, widely used in Middle Eastern cooking, is a thick paste made from ground sesame seeds. Historians believe that the sesame seed was the first recorded form of seasoning dating back to Assyria 3000 BC. The sesame seed gives tahini its slightly sweet and nutty flavor. Use tahini in this fruit ice cream recipe to create outstanding flavors.

You'll need:

• 1 cup crushed pineapple • 1 peach, peeled and sliced • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced • 8 dried apricots • 3 Tablespoon (Tbsp.) sunflower seeds • 1/4 cup honey • 1/4 cup tahini (found in international food section of supermarket)

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through before you begin.
  2. Gather everything you’ll need and always remember cooking safety.
  3. Before handling food, be sure to wash your hands.
  4. Blend all ingredients in a blender until they are liquid.
  5. Pour into a 13 X 9-inch dish and freeze until the mixture is in a semi-solid state.
  6. Remove from the freezer and serve this unique ice cream to your friends and family.

Useful information:

My sister and I made this ice cream for my mother's birthday party. The tahini gave it a very interesting flavor. Everyone wanted the recipe.(Jessica, age 14)
