Cool Lemonade in a Bag

Lemons, which originated in southeast Asia are a versatile citrus fruit. Throughout the centuries, lemons have been used for epilepsy treatment, as toothpaste, as a bleaching agent, and even used in witchcraft. Lemons also add flavor to food and drinks. Use fresh lemons to make this refreshing, thirst-quenching drink.
You'll need:
1/2 fresh lemon without seeds 1 cup water sugar to taste ice cubes (optional) measuring cups and spoons sandwich-sized, zip-locking plastic bag straw
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them together before you begin.
- Together, gather everything you’ll need and always remember cooking safety. If you are handling food, be sure to wash your hands.
- Invite your child to place half a lemon in the plastic bag. Squeeze out most of the air.
- Seal the plastic bag.
- Let him squeeze the lemon to get out the juice. Open and add water, sugar, and ice.
- Seal the bag again leaving one corner slightly open.
- Place a straw inside and sip the lemonade.
