Strawberry Smoothie

Strawberry Smoothie

[15 Minutes]

In the Cherokee language, "a-ni" means strawberry. Because of the rich land in the Cherokee nation, strawberries grew in abundance. According to folklore, strawberries are a symbol of good luck and remind us not to argue. Use fresh or frozen strawberries to make this refreshing fruit drink.

You'll need:

• fresh strawberries (or use frozen) about 1 cup • 1 ripe banana, peeled and sliced (ADULT ONLY) • 1/2 cup orange juice • 2 Tbsp. honey • 1 cup ice cubes • blender

What to do:

  1. If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
  2. With your child, gather everything you'll need.
  3. Let your child measure the ingredients.
  4. Help her put the ice cubes and the orange juice in a blender and blend. Add the banana slices.
  5. Add the strawberries and honey.
  6. Let her blend until smooth. Pour into 2 cups and serve cold.
  7. Together, think of other fruit and juice combinations for variety.
